Certain countries actually pay for descendants of their citizens to explore their homeland. For instance, the Hungarian Human Rights Foundation runs ReConnectHungary , a program aimed at getting Hungarian Americans between the ages of 18 and 28 to take a two week trip in order to learn more about the history and culture of Hungary. They’ll cover airfare from New York to Budapest, with two weeks of accommodations, meals, transportation & entertainment.
